Street Signage

Eagle eyed villagers cannot help but notice some additional street signage in both Little and Great Brington. The green 20mph advisory signs have been installed in response to concerns raised locally about vehicle speeds on our roads. The signs are currently on temporary loan from West Northamptonshire Council to help assess whether they have any effect on driver behaviour and perceptions of speeding within the community.

Views on additional road signage are understandably mixed. Some residents may welcome measures intended to encourage slower driving, particularly given the presence of schools, older residents, pedestrians and pets within the villages. Others may feel concerned about the increasing amount of street signage and whether advisory measures are effective.

The signs are advisory only and are not linked to enforcement or penalties for exceeding 20mph. However, drivers should remain mindful of existing speed limits and enforcement thresholds on surrounding roads.

The Parish Council would welcome residents’ views on the scheme, whether supportive or otherwise. Anyone wishing to share their opinions is invited to attend the next Parish Council meeting on Wednesday 17th June at the Reading Rooms at 7.45pm. Those unable to attend are welcome to contact the Parish Council through the usual channels.
